The Imphal Airport is located around 8 km from the heart of the city. It is the second largest airport in North East India. Three National Highways, namely N.H- 53, N.H-39 and N.H-150 criss-cross Manipur connecting all districts. The project of the Saurashtra-Silchar Super Highway is being extended to Moreh after which Imphal will become India’s Gateway to South-East Asia.In order to reach Imphal from neighbouring areas like Nagaland, Itanagar, Aizwal, Agartala, Kohima or Shillong or one can board the Manipur and Nagaland state buses that ply on a regular basis. These buses are comfortable and the price per seat ranges from Rs 75 to Rs 250.
Rail transportation in Imphal
Imphal does not have a direct rail service facility. The nearest railway station to Imphal is the Dimapur railway station located at a distance of about 215 kms from Imphal. One can hire bus or a taxi from the Dimapur railway station to reach Imphal. Taxi and bus services are easily available near the railway station. It takes 8 hrs approximately to reach Imphal from Dimapur. Apart from the Dimapur railhead another additional railhead is in Jiribam. It is located 225 kms away from Imphal.
